The Recreation Board is gearing up for the events scheduled throughout 2024. The purpose of these events is to provide recreational activities to our residents in Douglass Township and the surrounding communities. We are looking for ways to improve our events and are asking our local businesses to get involved. If your business is interested in becoming a sponsor, please download and complete the form below.

EASTER EGG HUNT

Starting at the trailhead, families will receive a map and a scavenger hunt list. Along the trail children will be looking for Easter Themed Items. At the end of the trail children will receive a goodie bag. They will then go over to their designated age group for the Easter Egg Scramble, which will be followed by pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Douglass Township Treasures

Be a vendor at this years Douglass Township Treasures!

Douglass Township Treasures is an event for the community to shop local treasured businesses mixed with Community vendors. This event will provide the community a safe space to shop, all while bringing outside vendors to Douglass Township for the community to enjoy. It won’t just be a day for shopping, we hope to get food vendors as well for families to come grab a bite to eat, while the kids enjoy some entertainment.

Saturday, May 18, 2024 (Rain date: Sunday, May 19) at 8:00AM – 2:00PM

Trunk or Treat

Trunkers will fill the parking lot with decorated vehicles waiting to hand out candy to kids donned in Halloween costumes. Other activities included pumpkin decorating, bounce houses and a visit from the local fire departments. Before children leave to go home, the Boy Scouts setup a bonfire to roast marshmallows and make smores. Vendors who are interested in attending the event are invited to set up as well.

Gingerbread House Contest

Businesses and Participants of all ages can submit a Gingerbread House that will be voted on by the Recreation Board at their December meeting. The public also gets a chance to vote through our Facebook page. All submissions get posted on Facebook and the most likes win People’s Choice. Each winner receives a $50 gift card.

Submission Deadline is December 19, 2024

How to Enter:
• Drop your house off at the Douglass Township Building
Monday - Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm
• Email photos of your house to dougberks@comcast.net
Emails must include: Name, age, address, phone number, name of your gingerbread house and at least 3 photos of your house (be sure to include a picture of the house with those who worked on it.)

Our Mission Statement

To enhance the quality and effectiveness of Township recreation resources, to encourage the use and enjoyment of Township recreation facilities by its residents and to stimulate cooperative planning for their improvements. The Park and Recreation Board consists of five residents who serve as volunteers appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Park and Recreation Board makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors with regard to planning and structuring of the township parks. They are also responsible for planning and conducting the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Community Day. The Park and Recreation Board meets the first Tuesday of the month.

PARK RENTALS

The pavilions at Ironstone Park and at the Township Building are available for rent. Reservations for the coming season are not accepted until February 1st of each year.

HUNTING

Hunting in Goose Run Park and the Township owned land is permitted by Township residents who obtain a license at the Township Office. 

Goose Run Park consists of approximately 82 acres, which can be accessed from Goose Run Road or Levengood Road. Hunting is also permitted at 900 Douglass Drive, Lots #1 and #2 (approximately 73 acres) on the property owned by the Township. 

Hunting is open to Township residents only, however each licensed resident may bring a non resident guest, who must also be registered with the Township. Maps are available at the Township Office.

Rifles are not permitted.

You must provide a copy of your PA State Hunting License as well as drivers license. You will be required to sign a form agreeing to abide by the State Laws as well as Douglass Township Rules.

THE HIKING TRAIL WILL REMAIN OPEN, SO PLEASE BE VERY CAUTIOUS OF HIKERS

Permits will be issued after September 1st.
